On Wednesday, June 26th, HACLA joined CA HCD, County of LA, HUD, and other partners for the grand opening of Lake House, 62 new supportive homes in LA for people facing homelessness, with half set aside for those with significant mental health needs. Community Development Partners’ Lake House was funded partly by $7M from HCD’s No Place Like Home program.

On Wednesday, June 26th, HACLA joined CA HCD, CA BCSH, LAHD, LA City, and other partners in celebrating the groundbreaking of The Arlington, an affordable and mixed-income housing development in Arlington Heights. This former oil drilling site will soon be home to 84 families.

On Tuesday, June 18th, HACLA's Section 8 Team held their HouseLA event at the California Endowment. In partnership with LACDA, HouseLA aims to inform property owners about incentives available for those willing to rent to individuals and families who have experienced homelessness. On Monday, May 20th, HACLA celebrated the ribbon-cutting of the newly renovated gym and basketball court at Nickerson Gardens. This renovation was made possible through a partnership with the Lakers and Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation. The upgraded facilities aim to provide improved recreational opportunities and a positive community space for residents.

On Saturday, May 11th, HACLA's All Stars Team of over 50 people proudly joined thousands of Angelenos at WalkUnitedLA 2024! The annual walk, which takes place at the SoFi Stadium, tackles homelessness by raising funds to support residents experiencing housing and food insecurity. During the event, several employees had the opportunity to meet a family who had received an EHV from HACLA.

This event was part of the LABC Mayoral Housing, Transportation, and Jobs Summit, which took place at the UCLA Luskin Conference Center. The panel was moderated by David Nahai, LABC Chair.
