May 2024 – US Bank representatives held a virtual financial literacy training during the Resident Advisory Council (RAC) meeting for the month of May. The presentation, which was led by Susan Bonilla, Amanda Han, and Elizabeth Gomez, focused on Identity Theft and Online Security. The training provided tips on how to identify, prevent, and report identity theft. Facilitators provided different scenarios and real-life examples to showcase the steps to take if it occurs, including reporting incidents to credit agencies and making changes to the way you approach banking. Facilitators provided a live demonstration on how to report identity theft via the Federal Trade Commission’s website, www.IdentityTheft.gov. They also provided resources and services that attendees could utilize to help prevent identity theft from occurring. Participants provided excellent questions for the presenters after the training, including concerns about the safety of different payment methods both physical and virtual. This was a valuable opportunity, and we are grateful to the US Bank team for their efforts. Special thanks to Teofista Turner and her team, who assisted in organizing the event.
