Resident Programs
Resident Services Programs – Empowering Communities, Changing Lives
At HACLA’s 13 public housing developments we have on-site early-childhood education centers, on-site health clinics, after-school/recreation providers, and college prep centers. Our Partnership Development team identifies needs and develops resident focused solutions to address them through strategic partnerships. At the heart of our work is a commitment to empowering residents with the tools, skills, and opportunities to thrive.
Americorp
HACLA utilizes AmeriCorps positions to meet unmet needs and expand services at the Watts/LA WorkSource Center, public housing sites, and Section 8 offices. Key roles include: (1) supporting social cohesion and stabilization in PSH by partnering with on-site case managers to enhance services, develop peer assistance programs, create social activities, and assist clients transitioning to stable housing; (2) aiding special populations in the Section 8 portfolio by partnering with case managers to offer focused social service navigation, document assistance, program compliance, and resource connections; and (3) serving as roving coordinators and life coach trainees at the Watts/LA WorkSource Center to provide job readiness, resume building, and employment placement support for homeless individuals and veterans.
H.O.M.E. Program (Housing Opportunities For Mentoring and Education)
The H.O.M.E. Program partners with service providers to offer health, wellness, and community-building activities for youth, seniors, and families. Focused on preventing delinquency, reducing recidivism, and supporting reintegration, it connects participants with schools, employers, and community resources while providing guidance, emotional support, and opportunities for growth.
CareerConnect Program
CareerConnect delivers workforce readiness directly to residents through mobile computer labs at transitional housing sites. Participants receive assistance with resumes, job searches, applications, and career exploration, building clear pathways to employment and long-term economic stability.
TLC Program (Tech Learning Club)
The Tech Learning Club increases digital literacy for seniors and other residents with limited technology access or experience. Through personalized coaching, group classes, and hands-on training, TLC helps residents confidently use devices, navigate the internet, and connect with essential online services.
