Recognition of "What Home Means to Me" Poster Contest Participants

As part of NAHRO's Housing America campaign, a poster contest is held each year for children residing in affordable housing and community developments owned or administered by NAHRO member agencies. The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) has been participating in the local SoCal NAHRO Poster Contest for the past 10 years.

This year, a total of 18 youth from various public housing sites participated in the Poster Contest and three (3) were select to move on to the next phase of the competition:

-        Shawndell Holmes (7 years old from Pueblo Del Rio)

-        Elmer Perez (12 years old, from Avalon Gardens)

-        Vanessa Herrera (16 years old, from Avalon Gardens)

During July’s Board Meeting, contest participants presented their posters to the Board of Commissioners and received Certificates of Recognition from Douglas Guthrie, President and CEO of HACLA.
