Residents of Estrada Courts celebrate Cinco De Mayo 

The 10^th Annual Cinco De Mayo celebration at Estrada Courts was a great success, thanks to the efforts of Commissioner Maria Del Angel.  Over 55 vendors came out to provide information and resources to the residents. Traditional Mexican food, drinks, music and a petting zoo ensured that the residents enjoyed the event in addition to receiving valuable information. Job search, family law, banking, children services, vocational training resources were available for the residents.

“This is a way to bring residents together and  staff coming out to support them. And that’s what it’s all about. Everyone should support it and do what they can. It’s great for the kids to learn about their culture as well.” said Commissioner Hooper.

Erika Alas, Estrada Courts resident was enjoying the day.  “They have job opportunities and a lot of information about clinics and health. I got a lot of information today,” said Alas.

Commissioner Maria Del Angel has been instrumental in organizing the celebration from the first year. She noted that there were new vendors this year. “There is testing, information for the residents, resources here and we need to bring these opportunities to the community, so they are educated.” said Commissioner Del Angel.

Children’s hospital conducted a blood drive and Commissioner Del Angel, along with Commissioner Margarita Garr rolled up their sleeves to donate blood.
