- HACLA entered into an MOU with the Los Angeles Housing Department and its non-profit subsidiary, Restore Neighborhoods Los Angeles (RNLA) to purchase a portfolio of 12 properties in Watts that were acquired and rehabbed to modern standards using Neighborhood Stabilization Program funds.
- HACLA also acquired 12 newly constructed 4 bedroom, 2 bath detached townhome style properties in the Mozaic Townhome Development in close proximity to its public housing site at Jordan Downs as well as three contiguous, newly constructed, 3 bedroom/2 bath duplexes purchased from a private seller in Watts.
- These residential properties are in addition to the effort to revitalize the Watts neighborhood represented by redevelopment of Jordan Downs. The purchase of these units make it possible for public housing residents to become more deeply embedded in the Watts community at large while maintaining family and community ties with Jordan Downs which have been established over several generations.
